Tehran to hold 2nd Intl. Exhibition on Nuts, Dried fruits

TEHRAN, Sep. 28 (MNA) – Tehran will hold Second International Exhibition on Nuts, Dried Fruits and related industries, the organizers informed Mehr News.

According to the organizers, due to the coincidence with SIAL 2014 France fair, the date of this show has been changed and will be held on December 27-30 2014. “We would like to apologize for the inconvenience, but most of the companies and factories attending in the exhibition have been agreed to this change so they could be able to participate to SIAL2014. We hope the show will improve through your cooperation,” says a statement announcing the change in the exhibition’s website.

The food industry of the country has the potential of exporting goods to the global markets in addition to meeting the local needs. Some of the goods like nuts, saffron and caviar could stand out as the famous international brands for Iran thanks to Iran’s geographic location and state of the production, from the past times, the official website added.

A variety of climatic conditions weilds impact on  the agricultural high-quality products produced. Based on traditional and historical conditions in Iran, some of these products like dates, raisins, figs, pistachios, walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, etc. have been consumed in large amounts in local and global markets.

Iran’s nuts industry is famous worldwide; the country is the 2nd largest producer of pistachio in the world, first in exports; dates (2nd largest producer in the world), peanut (the world's fourth largest producer), walnuts (the world's third largest producer), raisins (to the fourth generation), and hazelnut (fifth of world production) are also among the top products, adds the report. However, “unfortunately there is no appropriate and specialized exhibition displaying to the world these productions and commodities.”

“Holding the first international exhibition of nuts, dried fruits, and related industries is a good opportunity first for identifying and introducing the capability of this industry and second, converting and continuing this exhibition to the Nuts Industry Association in the region,” the website report cited as the first objective behind the exhibition.

The exhibition also seeks to “establish appropriate grounds to bring the subject into center of attention of the national and international entrepreneurs of this industry,” and further to help “exchange ideas, technologies and products among national and international participants of the exhibition and make a business relationship.”
